How To Set Up Your Blog!

Below I have a video and some links to videos that will help you actually create a nice blog.  
Take some time now and familiarize yourself with how to create a blog.

Now, if you are not webmaster savoy and know little about html, the next series of videos will get you a working blog.

By all means type into your favorite search engine, free blog backgrounds.  You will have many sites and choices. Save some of your favorite sites on your desktop or favorites.

  • GET RID OF TOP NAVIGATION BAR - This is the blue bar at the top of your blog.  It is of course optional to get rid of this but, if you notice someone can click on next and be taken away from your site.  I think it looks more professional and less cheesy to get rid of it, but your choice.

  • CHANGE OR EDIT HEADER

You want to change the header - even if its just to a  nice picture, this will help contribute to the look of your blog. On the other hand you may chose not to have a header. 
You may chose to create a banner to place there:

Keep in mind - I am giving you some tools to help you make you a good blog, but you can still do additional research via search engines and youtube to continue to find other tools. I only want to steer you in to right direction.

  • EDIT/ADD TO SIDE BAR - The side bar is that column to your left or right on your blog site.

I personally used all these tools to create this site and others.  Someone who does not know a lot about websites or html can follow the instructions from the videos and make something happen.  As far as those of you who already know this stuff. Sorry, you might me bored right now.  The marketing stuff is coming hold your horses. I will get to that.

Your blog should take some thought on your part.
I know what you are thinking you have clicked on blogs - ranked on page 1 or 2 of google that look really ratty.  You don't have to be like them.  Have your blog looking decent.  Do not leave it plain.  Find a nice back ground.
Rule of thumb, keep your site clean and easy to understand.  That will go a long way.  Have fun with it but keep it professional; no teddy bears or crayons.  Leave that for your blog about books for kids and toys.  Your choices are endless so don't get stuck.  Make your decisions and move on.

Blogger Pet Peeve

I have just noticed - today I have a pet peeve with blogger.com or at least other bloggers.  If you have a blogger.com site and the blogger template navigation bar is still visible on your site you are not serious. I can see if you are a family creating a blog of your families crazy vacations.  It probably would not  matter how your background is coming across or how people are accessing your site. But if you are claiming to have a business of any kind please, I beg of you. Get rid of the blogger Navigation bar It should be a no brainer.  I have already given details on my blog 'Setting up your blog' .  Just click on the lower side bar that says navigation bar; it will take you there.  Stop people from casually drifting away from your blog.  Traffic is too presious! And guess what!  This is for you guys on the first page of Google or Yahoo.  You are giving away customers by not taking care of this as soon as possible and losing money!!!
